In 1998 Mika Hakkinen drove the MP 4-13 to Mercedes-Benz’s first drivers’ world championship title since the brand returned to Formula One in 1994. The partnership with McLaren, agreed at the end of 1994, developed into a success story. In addition to the drivers’ crown, the team also won the constructors’ title in 1998. A year later, Hakkinen wrapped up his second world title.
