The 12/55 hp model of 1926 – together with the 8/38 hp two-litre car – was the first passenger car model of the newly formed Daimler-Benz AG to go to market under the Mercedes-Benz brand name. The spacious, well-appointed body made the Mannheim-built 12/55 hp the ideal tourer. As satisfied customers reported, it even was a great car for travelling through the Alps.
