Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR racing sports car.

Mercedes-Benz won the 1955 sports-car world championship with the 300 SLR racing sports car. On display is the first such vehicle to be built. Its air brake (the metal flap arranged behind the driver’s seat) was extended when the brakes were applied at high speed to reduce the strain on the wheels’ drum brakes. This variant saw use in Le Mans and the Swedish Grand Prix.
