On the high-speed track in Laredo, Texas, three production versions of the Mercedes-Benz E 320 CDI covered 100,000 miles in a thirty-day record attempt in April 2005 – without a hitch. Fitted with a diesel particulate trap, they proved the reliability of this emission control system even under extremely arduous conditions. And they accomplished this at a spectacular average speed of 239.7 km/h (148.9 mph) over the entire distance.
