The Mercedes-Benz Fashion Talents mission.

The Mercedes-Benz Fashion Talents initiative has been mentoring global and emerging design talent since 2009. In collaboration with different Mercedes-Benz supported fashion platforms from around the world, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Talents works to create opportunities for designers to present their collections, gain an audience, and grow their business outside of their local market. This year marks Mercedes-Benz Fashion Talents’ 10-year anniversary, having supported over 90 global designers at nearly 30 international fashion platforms. What better place to celebrate this than in London, one of the world’s key fashion hubs? The 10-year anniversary event of MBFT.

London’s iconic Somerset House set the scene for the 10-year anniversary event of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Talents. In the midst of the buzz of the London Fashion Week, Mercedes-Benz Fashion brought together a number of the city’s fashion insiders such as Daisy Lowe, Sita Abellan, Simran Randhawa, Bettina Looney, Nina Suess, and many more, to celebrate a decade of supporting design talent. Together with the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Talents star designers who made up the event’s installation, guests mingled and explored over a decade of work in championing emerging designers.

Supporting emerging talent at London Fashion Week.

The 10-year anniversary event of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Talents was surrounded by a number of London Fashion Week’s best shows and presentations, showcasing some of the best in British design talent, both established and emerging. London-based designers showing on schedule included Mercedes-Benz Fashion Talents alumnus David Koma, who presented an inherently feminine collection of dresses, skirts, and overcoats for the Autumn/Winter 2019 season. Other highlights of the week included a number of emerging British designers inspired by the creative buzz of the city, some of which were showing for the first time at London Fashion Week’s massive global platform. Throughout the week, Mercedes-Benz Fashion worked with local photographer Portia Hunt to capture behind-the-scenes content from the best London Fashion Week shows.

London Fashion Week: cool kids take the streets.

As always, London Fashion Week brought out some of the usual suspects – the city’s coolest local fashion figures. Mercedes-Benz Fashion collaborated with Japanese-born, London-based photographer Yu Fujiwara throughout the week to capture some of the best looks around the streets and outside key shows. As ever, London’s creatives and cool kids took to the streets to showcase new trends in street style, many of them wearing designs by new and emerging talents. These street style stars brought the colour back into London in February, showcasing trends such as funky, colourful takes on make-up and eyeshadow, colourful faux-fur overcoats, and patterned layering.
