AMG-Mercedes C-Klasse Rennsport-Tourenwagen

This vehicle has a very fast past: it is an original AMG-Mercedes C-Class racing tourer of the 1996 season from the ITC Championship (International Touring Car Championship). In that year, AMG-Mercedes entered three teams.

For the 1996 season, the vehicles featured some special high-tech sophistication, the ITC regulations giving the engineers extensive freedom with regard to vehicle design. For example, the racing car on offer had hydraulically adjustable balance weights at the rear end to automatically give the vehicle the ideal balance for the particular track – a technology capable of gaining those vital tenths of a second on each lap.

The AMG-Mercedes racing car on offer took part in all 13 ITC race weekends in the 1996 season. The vehicle afterwards became part of a collection and has not been driven or raced since.

As an exhibition-only vehicle, the touring sports car has deteriorated from lack of use and appropriate repairs are required before it can be put back on the road. To make it fit to drive again, it is necessary to replace a lot of missing parts, mainly:

  • transmission
  • rear-axle differential,
  • drive shafts,
  • propeller shaft with spacer,
  • engine control unit
  • fire extinguisher
  • steering wheel
  • flor panels
  • a lot of small parts
