The upgraded Type SS (Super Sport) is launched one year after the Mercedes-Benz Type S. With the supercharger in operation, the drilled six-cylinder engine reaches up to 200 PS (147 kW).
At the Grand Prix of Germany at the Nürburgring the SS shows what it’s got with a triple victory. Despite its spectacular racing successes it is primarily a GT sports car suitable for everyday use. It is offered not only as a four-seater sports car but also as an open touring car – a variant that combines sportiness with a high level of comfort. The vehicle shown here was sold in 1930 to the Maharajah of Kashmir.
