On May 14, 2017, the Federal Council passed a [link url=http://www.zeit.de/mobilitaet/2017-03/autonomes-fahren-bundestag-gesetz-computergesteuerte-autos-faq target=_blank]law on the use of autonomous vehicles[/link] in German road traffic. The law has a duration of two years and regulates, among other things, that manufacturers are held liable in the event of damage. However, this only applies if the damage was caused while the vehicle was in autonomous driving mode. In order to determine the cause of damage, each car has to be equipped with a black box.
