Tinkerers at the University of Minnesota are currently developing a drone, which is reminiscent of the [link url=http://footage.framepool.com/de/shot/869976169-harrier-jump-jet-hawker-p1127-vtol-flugzeug-hawker-aircraft target=_blank]British Harrier jump jet[/link]: equipped with swivel-mounted propellers, the SUAV:Q quickly gains altitude vertically. For straight and level flight, the wings, which are equipped with solar cells, are simply unfolded. In fine weather, the drone is thus almost energy-self-sufficient and improves its range. The change between vertical and horizontal flight mode shall in the future be autonomously controlled.
