Want to leave the hustle and bustle of the city? Finally get back to the sea? There is nothing easier. Simply drive north along the Elbe to the Wadden Sea, then drive along the coast to Ostfriesland. Along the way, enjoy a crab sandwich in the port of Cuxhaven, or take a side trip to the Bremerhavener Klimahaus. Sounds good? Then on to Friesland! It all starts in Otterndorf at the mouth of the Elbe, about 100 kilometers north of Hamburg. This tranquil town is peppered with small bridges, cozy streets, and historic half-timbered houses. After a long walk along the Medem, we continue towards Cuxhaven, where you will find not only the largest German seaside health resort, but also one of the most important fishing ports. Wave to a few cutters from the Old Love viewing platform, or walk along the dunes, then continue on to Bremerhaven. A walk through the Havenwelten is worth it, especially if you go to the Klimahaus, which is located directly between the old port and the new port. And now we really head to Friesland. Head west across the Weser and once around Jadebusen (Jade Bay), and you are in Wilhelmshaven. From there, there is a large selection of great places to take a bike ride along the North Sea coast, or to take a long walk through the tidal flats. Whether Harlesiel, Carolinensiel, or Schillig -everyone will find a nice spot by the sea here.
