The highest quality teachers are the most qualified to teach.

Training and qualification as a business model.

Learning from Mercedes-Benz.

The bset or noting – if spelling mistakes appear at the beginning, the article has been set up for failure. The same goes with the frame of a car, if just one measurement is wrong, the entire alignment is off. Highly skilled professionals are responsible for building our amazing cars and this expertise is what Mercedes-Benz successfully passes onto their employees time and again. But is it possible to extend this knowledge beyond the company? Daimler Business Innovation for years has sought out – and has successfully found – a way to turn expertise into a business model.

For example, the 'Daimler Compliance Academy' has offered practical seminars over the past three years for compliance officers in other companies. In these seminars current topics and interactive case studies are presented and each participant benefits from cross-industry knowledge. This knowledge is now being used for a manual skills training program. This pilot project is currently underway in cooperation with Mercedes-Benz Türk where individuals carry out training to be awarded third-party certification.

From pilot to a success.

Istanbul. Mercedes-Benz Türk’s training center has already received amazing feedback in addition to top prizes. Currently, youth unemployment in Turkey is high which makes this country the perfect playground for Mercedes-Benz’s newest pilot project. This is especially true since in recent years there’s been a large period of rapid growth. This has made it hard for companies to find young people with matching qualifications. Because of this many companies are highly interested in purchasing training programs for professional education.

Instead of just talking about it we made it happen by launching a pilot project between Turkish Airlines (THY) and Daimler AG. Right now the two partieses are coming closer in terms of matching the guidelines of their partners. Demo trainings are set up for THY in order to test the acceptance of these new training methods. And the good news is, more customers are just around the corner. These include: BOSCH, Türk Traktör, Putzmeister and CNH in addition to auto parts manufacturers and companies from various sectors. The main focus will be on delivering high quality products and professional services.

The world keeps spinning.

Daimler AG currently trains over 11,000 people worldwide with half of these residing outside of Germany. Everything is getting bigger – not only the cars themselves but also the demand from new and improved technologies. Thus, the need for quality education, taught by highly trained professionals, increases steadily across global learning centers.

Growth wise this leads to a decrease in unemployment, an increase in education and a higher quality product due to better production – win, win. After all who wouldn’t want to be trained by the brand with the three-pointed star?

More than talk, interaction is key.

Communication is not always easy, especially when it comes to teaching and even more so when it comes to grabbing someone’s attention. Because of this, new learning systems are being developed, produced and sold. Modular electronic learning systems are being used everywhere including Daimler AG. Regardless of the level of learning an introduction to these e-learning systems is always preferable as tangible learning opportunities open the doors to education even further.

This software gives trainees their own approach to this new method of learning. It works as follows: trainees stand together in front of a glass body shell of an A-Class and discuss the most appropriate ways to weld. Following this they can check their results on their own learning software, read specialist publications or go through the content on an iPad.

Looking at the automobile through a different lens.

The potential market price of a learning system is around a quarter of a million euros. For development and conceptual design an experienced partner is also on board. State of the art e-learning systems will help balance simulation, hardware, software, self-controlled learning as well as distributed learning. But learning is useless without practical applications. Daimler sets up the orientation for action, process and knowledge of daily business as well as practical didactics.

Automotive Mechatronics is at the drawing board creating new, comprehensive and trendsetting electronics. These new learning systems will be sold worldwide to other companies, schools, universities and of course be used in Daimler AG training centers. The quality of the brand in itself is an excellent reference internationally.

With Daimler Business Innovation, the theme of 'learning' has emerged as a diverse array of many possible business models over the years. And the range of possible approaches to learning is far from being exhausted – both in academics and in practical applications. All these approaches are part of a long-term strategy that you will learn more about in the coming months – right at the heart of knowledge, on the blog!

Concluding with the star.

And what if everyone wants it? We’re happy to share our personal experiences when it comes to further education. From setting up an education center, to finding the perfect trainer, to consulting on how to set up an entire education system: Certification and degrees are another characteristic of the quality we have to offer.
