Business Innovation & SWELL at SXSW 2014.

SXSW, aka South By South West, has become one of the most popular annual music, film and innovation conventions, and BI was right in the thick of it this year. SWELL, which focuses on forging collaborations between businesses and start-ups, has become a strategic partner of the BI team.   Through this partnership, the BI team has begun to foster relationships with start-ups, which will culminate in inspiring BI projects for the team. This alliance allowed BI to make its grand debut by acting as one of the sponsors of the SWELL Innovation Awards & Techie Hang. Held at a cool lounge near the Convention Center, the networking/social meet-up event was attended by over 400 trend-setting participants, ranging from entrepreneurs to engineers, designers, marketers, journalists, investors, and experience creators.  

SWELL chose 10 start-ups to pitch their ideas to a panel of innovators – Dragon’s Den style. Rasheq Zarif and Regan Long from the BI team, along with executives from Absolut, American Express and H&M, were the judges. And to enhance the typical event photo-opp experience and celebrate the recently unveiled Mercedes Me branding, the BI team developed the Inspire Me Photo Booth experience. The booth allowed attendees to channel their inner superhero and display their powers for everyone to see in all their glory, including wigs and gold chains.
