Hockenheim Test – Day 2

We've reached the half-way mark in the official ITR tests at Hockenheim. On Wednesday 6 April 2016, the Mercedes-AMG DTM Team continued with the final week of testing before the season opener at the same venue.

Lucas Auer, Maximilian Götz, Daniel Juncadella and Esteban Ocon were on testing duties in their Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM cars as they were on Tuesday. On Wednesday, they jointly posted 408 laps (1,866 km) of the historic 4.574-kilometre circuit which will host the first race weekend of the new season on the weekend of 6th-8th May. Auer, Götz, Juncadella and DTM rookie Ocon covered a total of 767 laps over the first two days of testing which equates to 3,508 km in all.

This was the last day of testing for the four Mercedes-AMG DTM drivers before the start of the season. Their Mercedes-AMG colleagues, Paul Di Resta, Gary Paffett, Christian Vietoris and Robert Wickens will take out the four Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM cars on Thursday and Friday.

Maximilian Götz: „It was great to be sitting in the car again after such a long time. I completed the most laps of any driver yesterday and today, which makes me King of the Laps, I guess. We all worked really hard. Each of us was on a different programme in order to best prepare for the season. This has been a highly productive test so far. We got through a comprehensive programme. We’ve shaken off the winter cobwebs and now I can’t wait for the start of the season.“

Esteban Ocon: „That was a very good day. This morning, it was still a little damp, but after that we had perfect conditions. We put in a lot of kilometres and collected a lot of data in the process. This gives us a very good basis for further work between now and the season opener. Now I am very excited and looking forward to my first DTM race at Hockenheim.“t

Daniel Juncadella: „Too bad we couldn’t complete the test. Unfortunately, I had a minor accident this morning. The track was wet and I lost control of the car. I want to apologise to the team for that. Until then, it was all looking very good. I’m happy with the lap times, the teamwork and our programme as far as it went. I definitely feel ready for the start of the season.“
