Esteban Ocon steps in for absent Daniel Juncadella
Esteban Ocon (19, France) has been drafted in at the last minute to cover for Spain's Daniel Juncadella on the final weekend of the DTM season at Hockenheim (16th - 18th October). He will be driving the PETRONAS Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM. Daniel Juncadella has had to pull out due to illness.
Ocon has been the official test and reserve driver in the Mercedes-AMG DTM Team during the 2015 campaign. The young Frenchman completed his first laps at the wheel of a Mercedes AMG DTM C 63 during tests in December 2014 at Jerez de la Frontera. He has been allocated starting number 11.
Esteban won last year's FIA Formula 3 European Championship title in a car powered by Mercedes-Benz, scoring nine wins and 21 podiums. In the 2015 season, he has been competing in GP3, a support series to Formula 1, as a member of the ART Grand Prix squad which is a longstanding partner of Mercedes-Benz. After 14 out of 18 races, he is currently placed second in the drivers' championship, two points behind the leader.
