Quick Chat: Lucas Auer
Lucas, with the benefit of hindsight, how would you sum up the past DTM season?
Lucas Auer: 'Essentially, it was a very positive year that brought great success for me, of course. The highlights were definitely the races at the Lausitzring, Nürburgring and Norisring. Obviously, I learned a lot this year too. It feels just great when you know you've arrived in a series and that you are competitive. We also had a superb car, so it was a shame that ultimately we didn't win anything.'
Last week, you carried out a DTM test for Mercedes at Oschersleben. How did it go?
Lucas Auer: 'The test was great fun. The power of the engine is very good, and the tyres are also going in the right direction for me. We were able to put in an amazing number of kilometres, so that by the end of the second day my behind was really sore. But otherwise, I felt fine.'
Mercedes-AMG DTM have also been doing a lot of new and different things on social media this year. What do you think of that?
Lucas Auer: 'I think our social media presence at Mercedes in the DTM is the best. This year, there were lots of funny incidents such as the Russian prank and my final interview with Thore at Hockenheim. This is right up my street, and I enjoy it. And anyway, activities like this are a bit of a distraction from race day, which is by no means a bad thing. That's what keeps our spirits up.'
