Head of Mercedes-Benz Motorsport
After a short career as an amateur driver, including class and overall wins in endurance racing, Christian ‘Toto’ Wolff founded investment company Marchfifteen in 1998, followed by Marchsixteen in 2004, focusing on strategic investments in medium-size industrial companies and listed companies. These included the IPO of HWA AG – the company responsible for developing and racing Mercedes-Benz cars for the DTM (German Touring Car Championship) – as well as Mercedes-Benz Formula 3 engines. Toto has been a member of the HWA AG board of directors since 2007.
In November 2009, Toto invested in Williams F1 – becoming an Executive Director of the team in July 2012. Less than a year later, in January 2013, the Austrian would then accept the role of Executive Director at the rapidly expanding MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team – including taking a 30% shareholding in Mercedes-Benz Grand Prix Ltd.
Appointed Head of Mercedes-Benz Motorsport at the end of that year, Toto has since taken on full responsibility for the success of the entire Mercedes-Benz motorsport programme – including Formula One, DTM and the Formula 3 engine programme. Further motor racing interests also include co-ownership of a driver management company with double Formula One World Champion Mika Häkkinen.
