Gottlieb Daimler Birth Place.

17 March 1834: The man who was to make Schorndorf world-famous was born above a bakery and wine bar in this picturesque small town. Here the visionary to be Gottlieb Daimler spent his childhood with his three brothers, Johannes (*1832), Karl Wilhelm (*1840) and Christian Albert (*1845). As soon as Daimler-Benz AG was able to purchase the house in which Gottlieb Daimler was born in 1979, work began on lovingly renovating and restoring it to its authentic condition. With the exception of minor alterations at the rear of the house, the present room layout is exactly as it was in Daimler’s day. To mark the 175th anniversary of Gottlieb Daimler’s birth on 17 March 2009, the exhibition on the ground floor was redesigned and today includes an impressive collection of exhibits, models and documents dating from the professional life of the automotive pioneer.
