    90 cars head east – They’re on tour again.

    The Rally 2017, the 12th running of the charitable Allgäu-Orient Rally, has attracted entries from just under 90 teams, including for the first time a team from Mercedes-Benz Classic.

They’re on tour again. The adventurous teams who will make their way for three weeks from Oberstaufen, Allgäu to Aqaba, Jordan. The Rally 2017, the 12th running of the charitable Allgäu-Orient Rally, has attracted entries from just under 90 teams, including for the first time a team from Mercedes-Benz Classic.


Two just-qualified young classic vehicles.

To be eligible, a car must be at least 20 years old – so the Mercedes-Benz Classic team is fielding two just-qualified young classic vehicles: an E-Class Estate of the 210 model series and an A-Class of the 168 model series. The A-Class this year celebrates its 20th anniversary, while the Estate with the “twin headlamp face” was on the market from 1996. The Mercedes-Benz teams will be on the road together across the Balkans, Turkey and Israel to Jordan.


The triumphant team stands to win a camel.

The rules of the rally are simple: the winner is the one who best meets the requirements in the roadbook and who masters all the special stages of the desert rally. Competitors must observe the highway code in each particular country. The triumphant team stands to win a camel, which is traditionally gifted by the victors to local people who know about camels.
