The Nürburgring is celebrating its 90th birthday – and Mercedes-Benz Classic is part of the celebrations at the Nürburgring Classic motorsport meet from 16 to 18 June 2017. The Stuttgart brand will be in the Eifel region with more than a dozen sporty cars and racing models plus famous Brand Ambassadors.
Over the decades Mercedes-Benz has enjoyed links with the Nürburgring through numerous racing highlights: including the birth of the Nürburgring on 19 June 1927. That was when Rudolf Caracciola won the first sports car race on the newly built Eifel track in a Mercedes-Benz Type S, followed by his team colleague Adolf Rosenberger. It was the start of one of the biggest success stories in motorsport, in which European racing was dominated over and again by the brand with the star.
As part of the Nürburgring Classic, Mercedes-Benz Classic is inviting visitors to the large stand, characterised by its industrial aesthetic appeal, in the drivers´ paddock. The models on display here include the Mercedes-Benz Type S Kompressor sports car which, like the, Nürburgring, is celebrating its 90th birthday.
The successor model, the Mercedes-Benz SS, which achieved numerous racing victories in the late 1920s and early 1930s, is also represented. There is also historic motorsport to be hold on the race track: in over twelve races classic and vintage car owners will line up on the starting grid.
