Details of your trip.

Day 1: Swabian Tuscany

Your journey begins at Mercedes-Benz Classic Center, the one-stop shop for those who own or are interested in Mercedes-Benz classic cars. Here, the legacy of the world’s oldest automobile manufacturer is nurtured and exclusive classics and legends are restored in the proprietary workshop with the greatest care and precision. Even sheikhs and oligarchs value the technical and archival resources which form the basis for the best possible level of quality and originality. And you have exclusive access to a unique world. Your gleaming chrome icon of Classic Car Travel will set your pulse racing when you sink into the soft leather seat, start the ignition and breathe life into the cylinders. Enchanting vineyards, picturesque half-timbered houses and romantic villages will provide the backdrop for the first leg of your journey in the SL which will take you to Tiefenbach, nestled in among the vineyards. Modern architecture, clean lines, high-quality materials, and a homely atmosphere characterise the winery and the Hotel Heitlinger Hof, which will be your home for the next two nights. In the evening, Head Chef Jürgen Hanser will spoil you with the finest cuisine.

Day 2: A vision becomes reality

It is a well-known fact that Dr. Carl Benz invented the automobile in Mannheim in 1886. What is less well-known is that nobody wanted to buy it. It didn't become a success until 1888 when his wife, Bertha, took the wheel and embarked on the first long-distance automobile journey in history. Today you will follow a section of this historic route, discovering the areas where it all took place. In Ladenburg, not only will you be able to experience the atmosphere that Carl Benz liked to surround himself with when he was building his Motorwagen, you will also be able to marvel at evidence of the past in his historical workshop. The epitome of German romanticism, Heidelberg Palace, a majestic ruined castle that towers over the old town, can be visited during your lunch break. Imposing mountains, deciduous forests, and golden corn fields alternate with the verdant vines being cultivated on the steep slopes of the Neckar valley as you drive your classic car at a leisurely pace back to your hotel along the country roads that follow the Neckar river. See, taste and feel: In the wine cellar of the Heitlinger Hof, the cellarmaster will present to you selected premium wines in all their multifaceted glory in the very area in which they are created, before you end the day enjoying your evening meal on the terrace.

Day 3: A journey through the history of the automobile

Your road book will guide you along the Württemberg wine route, through the gently rolling countryside as far as the Maulbronn Monastery (UNESCO-World Heritage Site), the best-preserved medieval monastery north of the Alps. The charm of this former monastery town with its lovingly crafted half-timber houses and romantic gardens has been preserved over the centuries, as you will see for yourself during your tour. You will then return to Stuttgart along seldom-driven country roads. Today’s destination is the only place in the world in which the history of the automobile can be recounted, right from day one and without any gaps: the Mercedes-Benz Museum. You will conclude your journey through time in these architecturally spectacular buildings where you will be taken on a guided tour through the eventful history of the Mercedes-Benz brand. And you will, of course, find the model you have been driving and you can tell people with pride that you have done more than just marveled at it.
