discover frankfurt

Culturally, Frankfurt is a shining light, second only to the capital Berlin in its profusion and variety of museums, theaters and galleries. Despite the towering cityscape, the city never feels claustrophobic, thanks to the vast and mighty Main, and plentiful green spaces. Night owls are also well indulged, with some of Europe’s coolest underground clubs and hip bars on offer. Famous for its high standard of living and international population, Frankfurt is home to some of Germany’s most interesting dining experiences, from street food to haute cuisine.

Whether you love shopping in huge malls or cute boutiques, attending giant trade fairs or small riverside festivals, botanical gardens or locavore restaurants, there is much more to Frankfurt than meets the eye. Welcome to the big city with a small-town feel.

festhalle frankfurt

Though Frankfurt is home to dozens of magnificent, towering buildings, the Festhalle Frankfurt is arguably the crowning jewel of the city. The building features an awe-inspiring aesthetic with impressive touches, such as a 40-meter-high steel and glass dome with gold leaf detailing. The Festhalle is more than 100 years old, but the gorgeous Neo-Baroque facade received an upgrade during recent renovations, and today it’s known for both its elegant, award-winning architecture and its state-of-the-art media infrastructure. The Festhalle Frankfurt regularly plays host to concerts, sporting events, trade shows and more, making it a well-known destination. From September 15–17, it will be the home of the me Convention.

welcome to frankfurt

Frankfurt is a powerhouse of a city, a nucleus of skyscrapers earning it the local nickname “Mainhattan,” after the adjacent Main River. Yet despite its importance as a national (and indeed international) finance hub and economic center, Frankfurt is surprisingly compact, and somehow retains an almost villagey vibe, with a strong community spirit and refreshing multicultural richness. Its status as a European transport hub ensures you’ll have plenty of options to reach the city. Additionally, all me Convention attendees can take advantage of guaranteed group rates at nearby hotels in the city’s vibrant Bahnhofsviertel (Train Station district) and the up-and-coming Ostend (East End district).

During the period of the me Convention (arrival September 14 – departure September 17, 2017) room contingents are available at the following hotels:

Room bookings can only be made when booking a ticket for the me Convention (Verlinkung zur Shopping Cart). For hotel details click the location pins on the map. Information about the booking process can be found here.

General information:
All relevant highway exits and streets leading towards IAA visitor parking lots that are within reach of the IAA are marked by the IAA guidance system. The car traffic guidance system from the police dynamically responds to road capacities and parking lots. Therefore, following personal GPS devices to reach the trade fair grounds is not recommended once you are in the metropolitan area. Instead, we suggest following the IAA signs and instructions from the IAA service personnel along the way. IAA visitor parking lots are located outside Frankfurt´s Environmental Emission Zone and can be used without an official emission zone permit (exception: lot “Gleisdreieck”).
