    The Avant/Garde Diaries X me Convention

The Avant/Garde Diaries end but the story continues.

In a world where change is the only constant, those who embrace progress are the ones who will succeed. This spirit has always been fundamental for everything we do at Mercedes-Benz, we strive to be a brand that not only incorporates contemporary trends from the creative industries, arts, science and technology but also encourages the discourse on developments and ideas for the future of society.

For three years, our interview magazine Avant/Garde Diaries invited inventors, thought-leaders, and pioneers of creative disciplines from all over the globe to share personal insights, trends, and wisdom – on the web and at our international Avant/Garde Diaries community events. All of the portraits are available in our video archive.

At our community events, we repeatedly heard and felt the desire for a platform that is open to a wider audience, connecting people, and sparking new ideas across all industries. And the idea caught on. We believe that anyone – not the creative avant-garde exclusively – should have the power to take part in shaping the future of humanity. We want to support those who are developing and pursuing their ideas to create a world we will want to live and work in and discovering solutions for today’s challenges. The Avant/Garde Diaries was a great experience and we will continue to foster passion for creativity and change by taking the conversation about the future to a whole new level!

We are thrilled to announce that Mercedes-Benz and South by Southwest® (SXSW®) have teamed up to host the me Convention, a continuation of The Avant/Garde Diaries’ aim to shape the future. The me Convention establishes a unique conference and festival experience that aims to connect bright minds across all industries in order to shape the future. The first me Convention was held in 2017 at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt, Germany. Look forward to global leaders and pioneers across art, music, technology, science and more, who will inspire unique conversations and the exchange of knowledge.

Get ready for bold ideas!

Together with SXSW, we have identified five relevant themes along our future strategy CASE (Connected, Autonomous, Shared and Electric):

  • New Creation

New ways of thinking, new approaches, new methods and mechanisms of production, as well as the integration of new technologies, will lead us to entirely new designs, products, and services.

  • New Urbanism

The development and unfolding of new living environments and new infrastructures creates societies with new attitudes, needs, and changed behavior.

  • New Leadership

Traditional leadership styles and models are increasingly dying out. Greater freedom, exchange and trust are leading to more productivity, efficiency, flexibility, and innovation within companies.

  • New Realities

We are creating a new reality: the boundaries between the real and digital world are becoming increasingly blurred, opening up new ways of living, communicating, and consuming.

  • New Velocity

Expecting our goods and services to be available on demand, we are accelerating things that previously took a long time to deliver. Societies are being transformed as technological innovations are springing up on an almost daily basis.
