Mercedes me connect.
Fully connected - any time, anywhere.
A vehicle that diagnoses wear parts, indicates when maintenance is required on its own initiative and calls for help automatically in the event of an accident: What may sound like fiction is actually reality.
With Mercedes me, Mercedes-Benz has created an umbrella brand pooling innovative services, digital facilities and valuable added benefits to take interconnected mobility between customer, vehicle and the outside world to a new level. The Mercedes me connect services enable the vehicle to be connected up to the world outside at all times via an integrated communication module. This enables the vehicle to provide active support in connection with maintenance requirements, accidents and breakdowns. Equally, the optional Remote Online Services provide customers with a simple and convenient means of linking up with their vehicles via a mobile device – in order to locate their vehicle in an unfamiliar town, for example.
Breakdown Management and Accident Recovery.
Various Standard Services can be activated and deactivated as desired. Breakdown Management enables technical assistance in the event of a breakdown. The vehicle relays its location to the Customer Assistance Center, which directly informs Mercedes-Benz Service24h. Mercedes-Benz Service24h ensures optimum assistance and can transport the necessary replacement parts to the scene of the breakdown, if necessary. In an accident situation, the Mercedes-Benz emergency call system provides for swift assistance. In an accident, the emergency call system connects the occupants with the Mercedes-Benz emergency call centre automatically or manually via the in-car SOS button.
In an emergency, relevant data such as the vehicle’s GSP position coordinates are relayed to a public European emergency response centre, which is then able to send an ambulance directly to the scene of the accident. This service is activated at the factory. Accident Recovery enables measures to recover or tow away a vehicle which has been involved in an accident. To this end, after an emergency call has been made a call from the vehicle will be forwarded to the Customer Assistance Center, if so requested by the user.
Maintenance Management and Telediagnostics service.
The Mercedes me connect Standard Services additionally offer pro-active assistance for maintenance work. Maintenance Management identifies and indicates when maintenance work is due and forwards the necessary information to the service outlet. On the basis of the received data, the service outlet is able to draw up a service quotation, which it duly sends to the customer’s Mercedes me mailbox, if the customer is registered on the customer portal.
The Telediagnostics service operates along similar lines: The vehicle relays data to the service outlet on the state of wear of important parts with diagnostics capability. The service outlet then informs the customer accordingly, in order to arrange a workshop appointment. The data transmitted in advance provides the basis for swift and problem-free repairs.
Remote Online Services.
The optional Remote Online Services enable drivers to link up with their vehicles at any time and from anywhere via a mobile device. These services are available for use in combination with the Remote Online equipment. This equipment is available in conjunction with the multimedia systems Audio 20 CD and Audio 20 USB and forms part of the multimedia system COMAND Online. Remote Online features as standard on board vehicles with electric drives. Forgotten where you have parked your car in an unfamiliar town? The Parked Vehicle Locator service provides a swift and simple means of establishing where your vehicle is within a radius of 1.5 kilometres.
Similarly, the Vehicle Tracker service enables you to locate the moving vehicle via GPS simply by clicking on the Mercedes me connect web app on your smartphone. Geofencing informs the customer when the vehicle enters and leaves a pre-defined area on the appurtenant map. This service is expected to be available from mid-2015. Activation of the system will be indicated immediately to the driver, who will be able to deactivate it at any time.
The ultimate in convenience.
The Remote Online Service Remote Door Locking and Unlocking is a further premium convenience feature. This service banishes any doubts from people’s minds as to whether they have locked their vehicles. The Mercedes me connect web app enables convenient remote locking and unlocking of the vehicle via smartphone. This service is expected to be available from mid-2015. In vehicles with auxiliary heating (currently only C- and S-Class), the system can be activated, switched off and programmed for a specific time from the comfort of your home, using a smartphone. Remote Retrieval of Vehicle Status enables vehicle data such as fuel level, charge status, range and mileage to be called up from outside the vehicle via a mobile device. The innovative services from Mercedes me connect set new benchmarks in safety, comfort and service and allow the user to experience mobility in a new dimension.
Please note that the Mercedes me connect services apply only to new Mercedes-Benz vehicles belonging to selected model series and are not available in all countries. Your Mercedes-Benz dealer will be happy to provide advice about the necessary equipment and options for your vehicle. Provision of the Mercedes me connect services is via a SIM card installed in the car and depends upon the availability of network coverage. The cost of connecting the vehicle to the Daimler AG server will be borne by Daimler AG. The linking of a vehicle with the Mercedes me connect services can only be undertaken by a participating authorised Mercedes-Benz dealer and following presentation of the necessary authorisation documents. The customer can then define other persons as co-users.
