Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes-AMG auctioned the AMG dream-car at the Cannes Film Festival for the benefit of the amfAR.

Prominently represented.

Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes-AMG were again prominently represented at the Cannes Film Festival with product and brand presentations this year. On the roads in and around Cannes from 14 to 25 May, it were not only stars and starlets from the film world that were attracting attention, but also models from Mercedes-Benz and the high-performance brand AMG.

The highlight of this year's activities at the 67th Film Festival was the charity auction of an S 63 AMG Coupé for the benefit of the amfAR Foundation.

Dream-car for a good cause.

The AMG dream-car in the luxury segment was auctioned on 22 May 2014, during the prestigious “Cinema Against AIDS Gala” at Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc. The car awaited the guests attending the Gala at the end of the red carpet, and was presented by MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One team driver and amfAR Co-Chairman Lewis Hamilton. He will also advise the winning bidder on the individual configuration and appointments of his sporty performance car, which is powered by a 5.5-litre V8 biturbo engine developing 430 kW (585 hp) and 900 newton metres of torque. For this purpose the two will come together in the Formula 1™ Paddock Club during a racing weekend. The handover of the individually configured S 63 AMG Coupé will take place at AMG company headquarters in Affalterbach. Apart from the auction, an SL 63 AMG 2LOOK attracted further attention at the Gala.

Together against AIDS.

In the past two years Mercedes-Benz has already established itself as a partner of the amfAR Foundation, which has devoted itself to the worldwide battle against AIDS since 1985. The Mercedes-Benz brand was represented during the landmark 'Cinema Against AIDS Gala' in Cannes as a 'signature sponsor', and as a partner during the amfAR Gala in Milan.

This year the Stuttgart-based premium automobile brand also presented itself at the amfAR Gala in New York for the first time.

As in past years, Mercedes-Benz presented itself in several locations during the entire Festival. Directly on the Croisette, outside the Hotel InterContinental Carlton, a vehicle display of the Mercedes-Benz S 63 AMG Coupé provided a centre of attention. On an enormous LED wal behind the vehicle, the more than six-metre high display in the form of a film reel gave visitors to the Film Festival vivid impressions from the world of AMG.

The brand's presence during the twelve days of the Festival was rounded off by branded S and V-Class shuttle vehicles.
