City Guide: Explore NYC with Pamela Love.
A new year, a new season – and a new round of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Weeks to keep the international fashion scene on its impeccably-shod toes in 28 countries around the globe. Fashion pros and city breakers alike tend to have little time for extracurricular activities. So to max out the fun, excitement, and discovery between shows, lattes or even leisurely strolls, we are starting a brand new series of city guides that offer great – and personal – insights gleaned from fashionable locals in the know who share their favourite spots.
An insider's lowdown on NYC.
Launching our metropolitan adventures is jewellery designer Pamela Love with an S-Class tour of New York City. In 2006, the former assistant of painter Francesco Clemente, film student, and stylist founded her own label at her Brooklyn apartment. After a childhood spent in Florida, the born New Yorker returned to her roots to turn her own tomboy-meets-princess (with a touch of grunge) style into a successful line of accessories. Some of her friends, who quickly snatched up the pieces, worked at magazines and helped spread the word on the label. By now, Pamela’s pieces adorn stars like Lou Doillon, Jennifer Lawrence or Joan Smalls; the latter wears the label’s signature spike ring in Beyoncé’s breathtaking new video “Yoncé“.
To find out more and get the insider’s lowdown on NYC we ask Pamela Love to show us the coolest aftershow party locations, the best sources of the almost obligatory green juice, and where to score a last-minute statement outfit before Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York kicks off.
Where do you get your daily java fix before Fashion Week madness ensues?
I always stop by Blue Bottle at Milk Studios for a Fashion Week pick-me-up. It’s great because it’s so convenient for everyone on the go to and from all of the shows.

Could you recommend a good spot for having business meetings?
The lobby at the Ace Hotel is great for having quick meetings outside of the office. It’s just down the street from my studio and has lots of cozy chairs and booths to sit at.

Where should we go to find the perfect vintage dress or other special pieces?
Narnia Vintage is my favourite store in the whole world. She has the best combination of really rare, unusual, special finds and beautiful vintage designers. It’s the perfect place for finding something really special to wear to Fashion Week that no one else is going to have. And the prices are reasonable.

Best places to unwind in between Fashion Week shows — any favourite salon, spa, or other wellness haven?
Joanna Vargas’ salon. She is a godsend – truly keeps my face feeling fresh during times of stress.

Where do you turn to for a healthy snack or green juice?
The Butcher’s Daughter. They have great cold pressed juices. I particularly love the red and green juices, great for keeping my immune system healthy.

What about if you’re going out for drinks: where’s a good place to hang out with the in-crowd after a show?
The roof at the Jane hotel is always a great place to see friends after shows.

Recommendations for where to meet for dinner with friends? What’s your favourite dish there?
Spring Street Natural is a great place to meet people for dinner. They have a large menu that works for my vegetarian diet but also have variety for meat eaters. I usually get the Malaysian Braised Tofu – really filling without making me feel stuffed.

Aside from fashion frenzies, which New York City location is not to be missed?
An adventure to the American Museum of Natural History on the Upper West Side. You will not be disappointed. I could spend hours in the gem and mineral rooms.
