Fashion Creatives: Veronika Heilbrunner & Justin O’Shea, Berlin.

Serious, dramatic and stylish impressions herald Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin Autumn/Winter 2015.

He is the cool one sporting a beard, a plethora of tattoos and that characteristic furrowed brow. Born and bred in rural Australia, he spent his twenties down a mine, working side by side with his dad. She is the smart beauty from Munich with endless legs and a winning smile who started out as a model.

Together, Justin O’Shea and Veronika Heilbrunner are THE power couple among today’s fashion elite. They first met at high fashion online emporium where buying director Justin now decides which labels or highlights make the jump from runway to retail. Meanwhile, Veronika pinpoints the season’s looks and inspirations, serving as style editor for a. o. Harper’s Bazaar Germany.

The couple’s move from Munich to Berlin was mostly Veronika’s doing – although Justin knew that he needed a change after five years in one place, he didn’t care too much about their actual destination. After all, the busy buyer spends most of his working days jetting between the fashion hubs of London, Milan, Paris and NYC.

High time to introduce these new Berlin arrivals to a wider audience: with an edition of our Fashion Creatives video series marking the start of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin Autumn/Winter 2015. Our first meeting was all about discussing the general scope and framework of our shoot, but it soon transpired that all involved wanted to move beyond standard scripts and formats.

When asked if he could image acting, Justin replied, “definitely!” And what about doing something unconventional, co-developing the concept and involving their friends in supporting roles? Both nodded yes, as if this was the most natural thing in the world.

The result of this scintillating collaboration, A FISTFUL OF WOLVES by London-based director Danny Sangra, not only launches Justin’s acting debut, but also plays with going clichés of fashion advertising. On the cusp of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin, our star finds himself caught up in the melodramatic world of fashion: He talks about his feelings and the hype that surrounds him, smoothly steers the C111 through Berlin’s stately Grunewald district and only walks in slow motion.

Good to know that Veronika and his friends – the Chipperfield brothers and Julia Knolle – are on hand to whisk him back to reality.
