Born in New York but originally from Mexico, Alondra de la Parra is one of the most successful conductors in the world. Her compelling concerts captivate audiences worldwide and have propelled her to international fame as a star conductor.

Alondra de la Parra was only 13 years old when she decided that she wanted to become a conductor. Encouraged by her father, she prevailed in the male-dominated world of classical music and pursued her goals with resolute determination. At the age of 23, she founded her own orchestra in New York to promote young talent from North and South America.

Alondra de la Parra works with the most renowned orchestras in the world: To her, music is an international language that is understood by everyone and unites artists from all over the world. The most recent milestone in her career was her appointment as Music Director of the Queensland Symphony Orchestra – making her the first woman in Australia to receive this special honour. As the official cultural ambassador for her home country Mexico, she is strongly committed to promoting musical education among young people and has launched various educational programmes at schools in New York and Mexico.
