DTM: Estoril Test – Day Three.
The Mercedes-AMG DTM Team finished their week of testing at the Circuito do Estoril in Portugal on Friday. Daniel Juncadella, Gary Paffett, Christian Vietoris and Robert Wickens were in the cockpits of the Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM on the last of the three days of testing. Gary Paffett secured the fastest time of the Mercedes-AMG quartet with a 1:32.640. Between them, the four drivers covered 1,920 km (459 laps) during the two test sessions on the final day. All eight Mercedes-AMG DTM drivers tested during the three days at the ex-Formula 1 circuit in Estoril. Overall, they completed 1,097 laps of the 4.182 km track, which equates to a total distance of 4,588 km for the whole of the test week. The next round of testing for the team is scheduled for April 14th – 16th in Oschersleben. The first weekend of the new DTM season will be held in Hockenheim (April 30th – May 3rd).
Gary Paffett: “After almost four months’ break, it was very nice to get back in the car. It took me a few laps to get used to the car again. At the same time, it was my first day with my new team – ART Grand Prix. All in all, it was a very good day. The conditions were quite good – it was sunny – and we put in a lot of laps. We managed to complete some short and long runs. We collected a lot of data and posted some good lap times.
I’m very satisfied with the way the day has gone. Now I’m looking forward to the next test at Oschersleben”
Ulrich Fritz, Team Principal Mercedes-AMG DTM Team: „We had a very productive conclusion to testing today after having to put up with wind and even some rain which made for less than optimum weather conditions. Overall, these tests have been positive for us, and we have been able to gain useful insights. However, we realise that we still have a lot of work to do before the next tests at Oschersleben and especially ahead of the season opener at Hockenheim.“
