Preparations for the new campaign in full swing.

Just days after the official confirmation of the Mercedes-AMG DTM squad for the 2015 season, all eight drivers set off for La Manga in Spain to participate in a special pre-season training camp from 2 to 6 February.

Tennis, golf and rugby.

The team members worked on weight and fitness training and clocked up plenty of miles on their road bikes as they applied the finishing touches before

the forthcoming pre-season tests and the opening race weekend of the season in May. The training plan also included tennis, golf and rugby sessions.

La Manga also welcomed a couple of new faces in the form of Lucas Auer and Maximilian Götz. The two DTM rookies joined their 2015 team-mates on a training programme designed to prepare them for their debut in the Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM car. It was also a great opportunity for Lucas and Max to get to know their team-mates and the rest of the team.

Great week.

Lucas Auer: “My first training camp with Mercedes-Benz was a learning experience. I have been getting myself fit and, in the course of the training sessions, I’ve been able to do different sports. It was cool to get together with the whole squad for the first time. All in all, it’s been a great week. I feel well prepared for the new season.”

Important team building.

Maximilian Götz: “I really enjoyed the fitness camp and I’ve now met my new team-mates for the first time. Obviously, we’d met before but it’s great to have done some team building together now, too. This sort of training is very important to ensure we get off to a good start.”

New targets.

Paul Di Resta: “It’s great to be back. We have new targets and new challenges ahead of us. It was nice for the whole team

to come together. We’ve prepared well for the first test and for the new season.”

Training at home.

Daniel Juncadella: “It was great fun to be back with the whole team again after the winter break. It was a bonus for me that the fitness camp was held in Spain. Up to now, I’ve been accustomed to travelling to Austria each winter. This time, I got the chance to stay in my home country where the weather is warm enough for us to go cycling and play golf. That was really good.”

Fully motivated.

Gary Paffett: “The fitness week was great. We had two new guys with us, so it was nice to spend some time with them and the other drivers. At the same time, we’ve been training hard to get fit and fully motivated for the new season.”

Great atmosphere.

Christian Vietoris: “This was one of the best fitness camps I’ve attended. The atmosphere was great. As a squad, we get along very well. We probably have the best team spirit that I have ever experienced. It’s a cool group and it’s fun working with everyone. I’m looking forward to the season, because this winter break has been long enough.”

Beautiful weather.

Pascal Wehrlein: “The fitness week is a clear sign that the start of the season isn’t far off. In previous years, our fitness camp took place in Austria. This is the first time it’s been held in Spain. It’s been mega. We had beautiful weather, which meant we were able to do completely different training activities like tennis, golf or cycling. I feel that we’ve prepared well for the season.”

Got closer as a unit.

Robert Wickens: “Going into the fitness week, it had been a long time since I’d seen all of the other drivers. We had a lot of fun, and it was a productive week with good team spirit.

We’ve learned a great deal and have got closer as a unit. That makes us stronger as a team. We’re fired up to get back in our race cars.”
