Louis Oosthuizen is the new brand ambassador.
Mercedes-Benz and Louis Oosthuizen share the same passion.
Mercedes-Benz South Africa supports the winner of the Open Championship 2010 on his continuing path of success as well as with his Junior Golf Academy. With the academy, the South African golfer wishes to teach golf to disadvantaged schoolchildren. “I’m proud that, as a brand ambassador, I’m now a part of the Mercedes-Benz family. I’m also glad that I can work together with a brand which has provided exemplary support to this sport for the last 30 years. The brand’s love of the game is just as immense as mine!” affirmed Louis Oosthuizen. The South African golfer’s professional career began at the age of 19. He won his first competition in 2010 at the European Tour, the Open de Andalucía de Golf. In the same year, he also celebrated his first triumph at a Major tournament: at the 139th Open Championship, which was played on the Old Course of St. Andrews. Here he really shone, leading by seven strokes.
Values that unite.
“We’re very lucky to be able to welcome Louis Oosthuizen into the Mercedes-Benz family. Our brand values of fascination, perfection and passion fit very well with Louis’ own principles. He belongs to a new generation of golfers who live by the values of Mercedes-Benz both on and off the course”, explained Selvin Govender, Divisional Manager of Marketing at Mercedes-Benz South Africa. Lüder Fromm, Head of Global Marketing and Communication at Mercedes-Benz Cars added: “We are very glad to welcome Louis and accompany him during the Open Championship, together with our other brand ambassadors like Adam Scott and Marcel Siem.” Louis Oosthuizen has opted for the powerful ML 63 AMG in South Africa and also drives a GL 450 in the USA.
The association which he established in 2009 is called 'The Louis Oosthuizen Junior Golf Academy' and will be making use of a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter of the latest generation which will be converted into a mobile golf clinic.
