Kaymer has high hopes of adding a third Major to his collection, alongside the 2010 PGA and 2014 U.S. Open, and is heading into the tournament in good form following his 4th place finish in the Open de France. Kaymer told Mercedes-Benz: “I believe that any Major win has its own individual story, but if you win The Open it has a deeper meaning. A win at St Andrews would be the most satisfying win you could have in any Championship”. Elsewhere, Bernhard Langer is going out with American veterans Tom Lehman and Justin Leonard.

Meanwhile, Marcel Siem has been grouped with Mark Calcavecchia and South African Jaco Van Zyl, whilst Liang Wen-Chong will play his first 36 holes alongside former Open Champion Padraig Harrington and Scotland’s Marc Warren. Mercedes-Benz USA brand ambassador Rickie Fowler is also amongst the favourites to lift the Claret Jug following his fantastic Scottish Open victory at Gullane last weekend. Fowler’s incredible surge up the leaderboard on Sunday gave him his second win of the season. The 26-year-old will be aiming to go one better than last year, when he finished joint runner-up at Hoylake. Round 1 begins on Thursday July 16th, with the Champion Golfer of the Year being presented with the Claret Jug by R&A Chief Executive Peter Dawson following the final round on Sunday July 19th.
