With Mercedes-Benz at the PGA Championship 2014.
Exciting week of golf in Louisville.
“The PGA Championship is a first-class event which fits perfectly to present our products and embodies our brand values. With our partner, the PGA of America, we are looking forward to a fantastic, exciting week of golf in Louisville,” says Dr Jens Thiemer, Vice President Marketing Communications Mercedes-Benz Cars.
On the strength of its success in previous years, the “Mercedes-Benz Performance Center” will again give spectators the chance to get to know the latest vehicle models first hand. The highlight of the vehicle exhibition is the new S-Class S 63 AMG Coupé, not due for launch in the U.S. until the fall.
Premium experience guaranteed.
In addition, fans can try out AMG Racing Simulators and put their virtual driving skills to the test. Mercedes-Benz brand ambassadors Adam Scott, Martin Kaymer, Rickie Fowler and Louis Oosthuizen will visit the Mercedes-Benz Performance Center, where they will be signing autographs and competing virtually against each other in the simulators. All visitors to the Performance Center up until Sunday, August 10, can pit themselves against the Mercedes-Benz brand ambassadors to try to virtually beat their lap times and win daily prizes for the fastest lap of the day.
As “Official Vehicle” of the PGA Championship, Mercedes-Benz will this year again be providing a fleet of GL- and S-Class models during Championship week, ensuring a premium experience for participating golfers.
The Mercedes-Benz Mobile Performance Center, which travels around the USA to support the PGA's golf-promotion campaigns, will be at the Mercedes-Benz Loyalty Lot during Championship days. The exclusive car park for all Mercedes-Benz customers and guests is located near the main entrance.
The Mobile Performance Center will have a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van fitted out with high-tech golf-teaching technologies, with PGA Professionals on hand to help improve game skills as well as putting and swinging mechanics.
Mercedes-Benz has been committed to the sport of golf since as early as the 1980s. It has been the International Partner for the Masters in Augusta since 2008, and from this year is one of three Global Sponsors. As a result of its association with the PGA of America, which has been in place since 2010, the brand with the star has been the “Official Vehicle” of the PGA Championship, the Senior PGA Championship presented by KitchenAid and the Ryder Cup when it takes place in the USA. In 2011, Mercedes-Benz’s involvement with golf was expanded through a partnership with the oldest golf event in the world, The Open Championship. Each year over 60,000 players in more than 60 countries take part in the MercedesTrophy, an exclusive tournament series for amateurs.
This year the MercedesTrophy is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a highlight in the form of the MercedesTrophy World Final at the end of September in Stuttgart, an event at which Martin Kaymer, the face of the tournament series, will also be in attendance.
