Laureus World Sports Awards 2015 in Shanghai.
For more sports in children's lives.
The winners of the Laureus World Sports Awards are chosen by 47 members of the Laureus World Sports Academy. The proceeds from the Laureus World Sports Awards go to the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation and form the basis of the Foundation’s work in supporting over 150 sports-related social projects in 34 countries of the world – including China. Since the Foundation was set up, Laureus has raised over 60 million euros for sports projects, making an improvement to the lives of millions of children and young people.
Here’s to good teamwork!
Academy member Edwin Moses said: “I would particularly like to thank the HengYuanXiang Group and Shanghai City Council, without whose support this event would not be possible. Laureus is far more than just a prize-giving event, however. As our first patron, Nelson Mandela, said: ‘Sport has the power to change the world.’ And sport can indeed improve people’s lives. We would like to use the 2015 prize-giving event to send this message from Shanghai to the rest of China and the whole world, to show how sports can have a positive influence on all our lives.
Laureus has been active in Shanghai for many years. This cooperation will now give us the opportunity to expand our work in China considerably.”
