Eurosport, a long-standing broadcast partner of the awards, has committed to air the prestigious awards gala for three years, and will produce its own supplementary material from Shanghai, taking advantage of the wealth of opportunities available at the star-studded awards. Fresh from his latest triumph, playing Bletchley Park scientist Alan Turing in “The Imitation Game”, which won him Oscar, BAFTA and Golden Globe nominations, the awards will be hosted by Emmy Award winning film and TV actor Benedict Cumberbatch for the second year running. The “Best of” will include key moments from the glittering ceremony, including all the red carpet action, the awards presentations and the winners’ acceptances.

In addition to the Chinese audiences, hundreds of millions of viewers around the world will see the post-produced show in addition to the hundreds of millions who will see news content of the event distributed by Laureus on the night of the awards. The Laureus World Sports Awards is now the second most-watched awards gala in the world. For the first time ever Laureus will air the red carpet as a 30 minute packaged show on the website of Laureus, bringing fans across the globe insight into the best moments from this year’s star-studded event in Shanghai.
