“Hello, this is Siri. What can I do for you?”
Commuter traffic. After overtaking, you have to thread your way into the traffic on the highway and come a little closer to home. But: when was that appointment again? A last-minute meeting with a small team? Yet now you have no chance of getting your planner or smartphone out of your bag to check the calendar. You have to keep your eyes on the heavy traffic and your hands on the wheel. Unfortunately, the next exit is still several kilometres away. And making an emergency stop is extremely irritating.
Simply tell me what you want.
Siri can be easily called up using a special button on the menu in the new E-Class. Then drivers simply have to say what they want. In this case: first call up the appointment calendar, then call the family or send an e-mail to the office. Naturally, new appointments can be set up or an SMS dictated. Music can also be selected, stocks checked, the weather forecast can be called up and Twitter or Facebook posts sent. The location or appointment-based reminder function can also be used to create a reminder to buy flowers, for example, while coming home from a business trip.
With these functions, the distractions caused by reaching for the iPhone, selecting and inputting information via the touchscreen are now a thing of the past.
No more “window dressing”.
Convenient and safe: in a new Mercedes-Benz E-Class, the iPhone 4S can be controlled without swiping, tapping and taking your eyes off the road. This only requires the successfully introduced Drive Kit Plus with its special interface. At the beginning of the journey the iPhone is connected to the E-Class’ on-board computer via this interface with the Apple connection cable. The free Digital DriveStyle app then takes over controlling the iPhone. The previous systems with an iPhone connection utilized the steering wheel buttons and the rotary knob. Now all of the important functions only require a voice command – the integrated microphone and speakers in the new E-Class now handle the rest.
