Robust, powerful and smooth – the diesel engines in the Vito.

The Vito is the economical van from Mercedes-Benz and features a 6-speed transmission for all four-cylinder engine variants as standard.

Modern engine technology for professionals.

The diesel engines under the hood of the Vito from Mercedes-Benz are characterized by their economical, environmentally-friendly and powerful design. All of the diesel engines are equipped with an oxidizing catalytic converter, a particulate filter along with cooled exhaust gas recirculation. The ECO Gear transmission is distinguished by its outstandingly broad spread, providing the best performance combined with low consumption and emission values. In addition, the Vito is the only model in its class to feature a standard six-speed transmission for all four-cylinder engine variants.

The four-cylinder is offered in different performance levels.

The in-line four-cylinder OM 651 engine generation for the Vito comes in three different performance variants: the Mercedes-Benz Vito 110 CDI has a power output of 70 kW (95 PS), the Vito 113 CDI provides 100 kW (136 PS) and the Vito 116 CDI delivers an impressive 120 kW (163 PS). All of the four-cylinder engines are distinguished by their exceptionally low fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions, thanks to state-of-the-art engine technology. The engines in the Vito are designed with a long stroke, providing exceptional torque and responsiveness. A combination of gears and a short chain drive the camshafts. This forms the foundation for its almost indestructible durability.

The Vito excels with its unrivalled running performance.

A common rail system handles the fuel injection in the Vito. The seven-hole fuel injectors carry out up to five injection cycles per combustion cycle for outstanding precision. The maximum torque is available even at very low engine speeds and remains available across broad engine speed spectrum. This is an added benefit when using the vehicle in professional situations that require high torque.

Thanks to the combination of a nominal engine speed of 3,800 rpm and astounding elasticity, the four-cylinder engine has an exceptionally broad usable driving range spanning 1,000 to 4,000 rpm. No other diesel engine in this vehicle class can match this performance.

Perfectly adjusted: the ECO Gear manual transmission.

The six-speed ECO Gear manual gearbox is a standard feature in the four-cylinder Vito and responsible for the power transfer. This gearbox features an outstandingly large spread, a first gear with a low ratio and a sixth gear with a high ratio. This configuration enables the vehicle to run at especially low engine speeds. In addition, this design also takes into consideration typical situations such as hill starts with a full payload or a heavily loaded trailer together with long-distance highway journeys. Alternatively, the Mercedes-Benz Vito is also available with the proven five-speed automatic transmission. This is a standard feature in the Vito 112 CDI and Vito 126.

V6 and V126 – convincing technology.

The six-cylinder V6 engine in the Vito 122 CDI is a masterpiece of engineering: it is the only six-cylinder in a van and has impressive performance specifications for this class: 165 kW (224 PS) together with a remarkable torque of 440 Nm. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.1 seconds and achieves a maximum speed of 201 km/h. Also in a class of its own: the Vito 126 with a V6 gasoline engine. The performance and smoothness of the six-cylinder engine are unmatched among vans. As with the V6 diesel, this version also features an automatic transmission. The Vito 126 delivers 190 kW (258 PS).
