#MBfutureride: Pre-event to the Web Summit in Lisbon.
From vehicle manufacturer to mobility service provider.
From 6–9 November, one of the world’s biggest tech conferences will be held in Lisbon, the Web Summit. In the run-up to the Web Summit, Daimler for the first time organises a pre-event between Porto and Lisbon – the #MBfutureride. On board two state-of-the-art touring coaches from Mercedes-Benz and Setra, experts from future-oriented units of the commercial vehicles division present a host of activities that characterise the transformation of the company from vehicle manufacturer to mobility service provider.
Development of digital ecosystems and business models.
DigitalLife@Daimler pushed the digital transformation of the Group. DigitalLife@Daimler supports the implementation of digital projects from the fields of artificial intelligence and virtual reality, and works using methods from design thinking. One aim is the development of digital ecosystems and business models. For this purpose, DigitalLife@Daimler takes the employees on a journey of digital transformation and inspires them with the DigitalLife tour at the plants with the Setra Top Class DigitalLife bus, specially equipped with “gadgets”.
Commercial vehicles as mobility platforms.
Daimler Trucks deals, among other things, with technologies that evolve commercial vehicles into indispensable mobility platforms. In an unparalleled trial, it tested the use of the Arocs in automated airport snow removal operations, for example. Following the successful demonstration of the innovative Highway Pilot and Highway Pilot Connect systems, the company thereby presented another step forward on the road to the fully connected and thus unmanned commercial vehicle.
Fleetboard: Solutions for optimal logistics processes.
Daimler Trucks offers tailor-made solutions for optimising logistics processes with Fleetboard. Fleetboard networks the logistics system of a company through its digital services and provides extensive data related to driver, fleet and assignment – for example, about the driving style, the vehicle condition and the driver’s current activities.
Future initiative of Mercedes-Benz Vans.
As part of the strategic future initiative adVANce of Mercedes-Benz Vans, the Future Transportation was established, a flexible unit within the Group that deals with key future topics related to vans. The focus is on networking the van with the customer’s entire value chain. This turns the van into a platform for comprehensive mobility concepts and Mercedes-Benz Vans is transforming itself from a pure manufacturer into a provider of mobility solutions.
Electric mobility solutions for passenger transport.
The Mobility Solutions, a think tank within the Daimler Buses business division, works on fleet-ready electric mobility concepts for passenger transport. The focus is on the collaboration with customers from public transport and innovative startups from the technology field. Two state-of-the-art touring coaches, a Mercedes-Benz Tourismo and a Setra TopClass, are used for the pre-event between Porto and Lisbon. In addition to a fast wifi and entertainment systems, they are equipped with exclusive comfort and safety features.
