Two members of the She’s Mercedes Lounge and their companions were invited to join the German runway debut of CALLISTI at the ewerk in Berlin, presented by Mercedes-Benz & ELLE.

In 2018, the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin boasts of a new guise. Another reason not to miss the joint ELLE and Mercedes-Benz show. This season both partners issued invites to the Fashion Show by Austrian designer Martina Müller-Callisti. Two lucky winners and their companions had a special opportunity to experience the German runway debut by CALLISTI at the ewerk Berlin.

The weather outside may be dull, cold, and pretty wet on this Tuesday evening, but none of this can dampen the mood inside the ewerk. In 2018 it is home to MBFW for the first time. And the new location is impressive right from the outset: it's all about upcoming trends here – that is clear as soon as you get a glimpse of the exterior. The current shows are broadcast on a big LED screen each day. There are also backstage interviews with the designers. On the inside, high walls sport cream-coloured tiles and industrial charm, in front of them upholstered furniture from Made.com, and fashion so close you can practically feel the fabric at a first glance. All this is framed by a spectacular lighting concept.

In the evening, Austrian designer Martina Müller-Callisti is showing her new autumn/winter 2018 collection at the invitation of Mercedes-Benz and ELLE. This marks the continuation of Mercedes-Benz's successful International Designer Exchange Program (IDEP) in this Fashion Week season, too. For ten years, the Callisti label has stood for puristic, extravagant, and urban fashion. For the collection’s first-ever presentation in Germany, the rows right and left of the runway are filled to capacity. The winners of the She’s Mercedes Lounge raffle are also right at the heart of the excitement.

The Womenswear collection for the coming Autumn and Winter is characterised by muted colours such as off-white, cream, blackberry, marine blue, and black. Provocative eye-catchers include transparency, and narrow leather belts or straps that adorn trouser suits, shift dresses and skirts in flowing pleats or an elegant A-line. The focus is on femininity, with the cuts emphasising the silhouette. Nevertheless, with their deliberate understatement the looks simultaneously evoke the image of a confident woman with both feet firmly planted on the ground.

This is also the central, tradition-steeped motif at Callisti: since the age of 13, Martina Müller-Callisti has been sewing and selling her own fashion. It clearly displays her signature, a minimalist design with carefully showcased highlights that flatter a woman and at the same time bestow her with power. And nothing has changed in that area since the launch of her first fashion line for men in 2012.

When the designer finally takes to the stage at the end of her show, she is given a big round of applause. The guests all agree that the presentation was a great success. The same is also true of the new MBFW format, and we can certainly expect to see more of that in the future!
