For the first time the jumpers at this year's Mercedes-Benz Nations' Cup at the CHIO Aachen also rode for a charitable cause. Every rider who successfully completed the final obstacle of the course, the Mercedes jump, without dropping a fence, gave a voluntary donation of 100 euros to the "Riding against hunger" initiative. Mercedes-Benz contributed a further 50,000 euros to the riders' donations. This resulted in a final donation of 55,800 euros. Gudrun Bauer, Michael Mronz, the German Equestrian team around the national trainer Otto Becker, the Mercedes-Benz brand ambassador Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum and Dr. Dieter Zetsche, CEO of Daimler AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars, were all extremely pleased with the final result. The event had literally striven for happiness on earth on the backs of good horses.
