The Academy.

Sport gives disadvantaged people hope where there was previously only despair. It helps us to keep moving, break down barriers and rise above ourselves. With this in mind, the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation supports numerous sporting programmes around the world, thereby boosting the self-confidence of children and young people. Children across the world are given the prospect of mental and physical health, educational attainment and equality of opportunity. A key pillar in this is the Laureus World Sports Academy, which includes over 60 of the greatest sports personalities of all time. They work in an honorary capacity for Laureus Sport for Good and motivate the children and young people by visiting the projects.

Former soccer player, Portuguese national player and Academy number Luís Figo visits one of the numerous Sport for Good projects.

Olympic champion and Laureus Sport for Good Foundation Ambassador Missy Franklin has spent time meeting and inspiring youngsters from the Laureus-supported Foundation of Goodness project in Sri Lanka.

The Academy members make up the Laureus Family, together with the over 180 Laureus ambassadors. They assist the members of the Laureus World Sports Academy in their work in an honorary capacity. Ambassadors are prominent personalities from the world of sport and public life. What they all have in common is that they serve as an inspiration for young people in their country. The fame of these personalities guarantees public attention and recognition for the projects.
