Ben Daye started in Manchester, spraying footwear in various designs. This turned conventional shoes into design objects, and he soon attracted public interest. "The objects I designed became larger and larger, and in 2015 a friend asked me whether I would like to spray-paint his G 63." Ben Daye agreed at once, and gave the off-roader his utmost. With spectacular success: "The photos went around the world. Twitter, Instagram, Facebook – the design work attracted massive attention and comments everywhere. Ben Daye succeeded in turning an icon into a one-off work of art.

Actually the G-Class itself ensures that it constantly appears before us in a different look – when it has donned a distinctive outfit of dust and mud after an off-road tour. Ben Daye anticipated this, and gave the G-Class an individual design. It was something dear to his heart. "I have always adored the G-Class. I used to be a great fan of rap music, and one of my idols drove a G-Class." Since then he has had an obsession for the off-roader. He particularly loves its "ascetic, timeless appearance".
