Oaxaca is pure inspiration, says María Ángeles. Zapotecan tradition and a colonial influence combine with a mountainous landscape to create a truly unique atmosphere. The city is well known for its handicraft such as pottery, weaving, jewellery and alebrijes. But Oaxaca also has a rich history of cuisine. For example, chocolate originally comes from the region of southern Mexico, and even the famous mezcal has its roots here. This colourful, diverse mix is especially tangible at the many markets, and for that reason in particular, Oaxaca is considered to be one of Mexico’s most beautiful cities.
